Hmmm a cat with lots of hundred dollar bills, I wish I could train my cat to bring home money like that.

Memes@lemmy.ml•After this drought of content, I'm glad to see a lot of promising trailers.
11·3 years agoI wondered about that. When I was a film major in college (way back in 80s) we were using 16 mm cameras and actual film, and to correct for daylight (which has a lot of blue in it) we had to use an orange filter over the lens to make the colors more natural. So I’m sure there are ways to correct for the blueness in digitally shot movies. I just wish they’d use it!
Like the movie “Napoleon” that just came out. There’s no way I’ll watch it just because I hate that blue/grey aesthetic so much, it bleeds so much life out of things and leaves skin tones grey and skies always looking overcast. It’s like being in a freezing cold place for two hours. No thanks!

Memes@lemmy.ml•Were this the ‘good ole times’ they always talk about?
2·3 years agoThat’s true enough. I started working around the time computers were even a thing - back in the 70s and there was no internet, just basic DOS green screens that were very basic. It wasn’t until the mid-90s I even had a computer that had rudimentary internet access - and it was so new, there was only maybe a handful of websites you could find.
There were no cookies or trackers to watch what you were doing online, but then again, there wasn’t anything much to look at anyway - porn wasn’t even there yet.
So I feel we definitely have it both better and worse today. To me, the better outweights the negatives - I mean it’s so much nicer today to just be able to search anything and get a million different answers. But that’s also the downfall of everyone being interconnected - being buried in bullshit much of the time.

1·3 years agoThere is only one way that humanity will finally end - and yes, it will be by nuclear war. And it’s not very far off at all. There is no other way that the fate of humanity can go. There is such a lack of human compassion and empathy and such a desire to cause hurt, it’s just a matter of hours. So don’t think it won’t happen. There’s no other possible outcome for us at this point, none whatsoever (unless an asteroid demolishes us first, that is).

2·3 years agoMy childhood in the 60s and 70s was idyllic, I have to admit - growing up on a private reserve with mountains all around and having woods around to play and get lost in. I loved it all - but even then I knew about the conflicts going on and how unhappy most adults seemed.

5·3 years agoThat’s about it. I’m white and male and I’m here to tell you, there never was a ‘good old days’ unless you mean a time when white men could get away with raping and killing a young kid like Emmett Till and could butcher their families and get away with it.

1073·3 years agoI’ve been around since 1959, and back then people were up in arms about the partisan divide in this country and the Vietnam conflict and the oppression of black and other races. Back then, domestic abuse was sort of commonplace, no man could be sent to jail for beating up his kids or his wife. Alcoholism was rampant back then, and drug abuse shot up dramatically. Since then, I’ve seen so much of the same play out over and over. Things have changed somewhat for the better in some ways, but to be honest - there never was a ‘good old time’ when everyone felt happy and equal and safe and protected.

92·3 years agoI watch those upcoming trailers on Youtube, and I’m sure it’s just me, but - it always seems like the movies are going to be stupid. For one thing, I’m in the minority, I don’t watch Marvel movies or care about superheros, so there goes 99 percent of the movies’ appeal for me. But also - I HATE the blue veneer over movies today - like they were all shot with a dark blue lens so everything is a uniform gray color, no skin tones, no sky tones, no color to the trees. I realize that’s probably because digitally shot movies look that way, but it’s quite unpleasant and ugly.
Oh onion, you crazy allium. Your opinions really stink ya know that?
Hmmm. Looking like he-man or looking more like skeletor as I age - it’s a tough choice. I once had a hairline, now it’s almost at the back of my neck.
Of course I could do a serviceable job at slicking back what I have and looking like someone who hangs out under an opera house in a cape.
Yep it’s been a year of bad decisions and questionable behavior. With any luck, next year will be also!
Boy howdy do I know that frustration all too well. I keep a lot of my spare pieces in a big jar and whenever I go looking for one I know I have - suddenly I don’t have one like it at all. What the hell? Are aliens using my spare lego parts to build a painful new form of bumpy anal probe or something? I know I saw that piece in there just two days ago!!!
Any person who uses money to buy commodities is, in fact, a capitalist. Money used to invest in other people’s business output is very much what capitalism is all about. And why is the word “Capitalist” so dirty and scary to people? Trust me, I’ve seen parts of the world so impoverished people live in boxes with trenches for sewers. I say we have it pretty damn good to be part of a capitalist society and have enough wealth to buy the newest iphone or game system the minute it hits the stores.
Hmm I’m not sure what context this is meant to be in. If he means actual drugs - it’s true that customers will pay more to sell themselves deeper into the horrid dark slavery of drug abuse and addiction. Because people are sick in the head and can be shackled to drug abuse so very easily.
And it’s like trying to hold back the ocean with a toothpick, telling people they can’t be gay or Muslim or anything else. As with most right-wing oppression, it’s an aspiration that is abusive, unrealistic and asinine in every way.
I could make so many jokes about black wieners here. But this does seem like sacrilege, making hot dogs licorice flavored.
I can’t wait until they come out with hot-dog flavored licorice for the 4th of July.

Boy ain’t that the truth, I like his bulging eyeballs and rabid frantic posturing. That’s me, I’m all too guilty of doing the same.
