I’m sorry, but you work with a bunch of morons of they are harassing you about it.

Does NPC mean the same as “low value human”? Asking for a friend.
Also, what a terrible take.
Fortunately there’s so much chatter on this that maybe it won’t be that way.
I miss the old Tab Mix Plus. I customized that crap out of that thing and it was lovely.
The only ones who can’t are those who have that SUUUPER special plugin that they need and they won’t look at FF alternatives.
There were people back in the day who thought that the internet was that fancy E on the desktop (internet explorer) and would have their brains melt when trying to explain alternatives. I think that people now have this problem with a fancy G.
And everyone rediscovered Firefox and the world was at ease.
What’s shocking is that it could have been a force for good and community building. Instead he insulated the bullies and allowed people to abuse the system for personal profit. All of this because of an unending sense of entitlement.
I think that a lot of people grew up on reddit and come here trying to do the same nonsense, only to not get traction, become bored, and leave.
Yep, this is me. What finally did it for me was a completely random and unexpected adverse mod interaction from a random comment I had left once. It apparently made this particular mod very personally sad and there was a whole lot of insulting, references to mental health, and a permanent ban.
I dunno, do we actually care about people who would leave here and go back to Reddit?
It also turns out that people get angry when you point out that Palestinians are Semites.

2·3 years agoIt’s always been this way since the very beginning. What changed is that people are being open and honest about it rather than passing around a list of names in secret.

Memes@lemmy.ml•The neverending discussion about pasta, olive oil and just putting enough water... 10g salt, 100g pasta, at least 1L water e basta così ! No oil or you ruin the pasta/sauce synergy. 😃
1·3 years agoI used to get all the fancy brown and wild rices, the long grain rice, etc. Calrose is just no-fuss. It definitely has its uses and you’re not going to make biriyani with it, for instance. What it’s great for is when you just need rice on the side of whatever else you are making.
I hope this works for you. Please let me know what you think if you end up trying it.
p.s. just noticed that I linked you to a 5lb bag! LOL. They come in small bags too so don’t worry too much about that.

2·3 years agoI’ll tell you what blew my mind and opened a world for me. Please give this a try next time you make rice, with luck it does the same for you.
Use a rice cooker and prepare as normal. Before starting the cycle, add in about a teaspoon of salt and about 2 teaspoons of either rice wine vinegar or cider vinegar. Mix well then cook as usual. Adjust for the stovetop method if you don’t have a rice cooker.
I find that the rice wine vinegar works better, but that the cider vinegar works just fine. You’re going to worry that you put in too much vinegar because you can smell it a little while it’s cooking. But guess what? You didn’t. That little bit of acidity in contrast with the slight sweetness of the rice starch balances out.
I’ve also recently learned of the flavor triangle. You’re meant to balance sweet, salty, and bitter. The recipe above does that for rice.
Last tdbit: my chef friend turned me on to this, and it’s all I use now:

Moral: don’t be afraid of vinegar. Play with it a bit and see what you like.

1·3 years agoI don’t like vegetable oils if I am using a tomato sauce–I don’t think it goes well together. If I’m doing Mac-n-Cheese, then yes, Otherwise it’s olive oil.

26·3 years agoWho said oily? A small amount, like a teaspoon, of EVOO in a giant pot and you’re good.

36·3 years agoIt’s really about flavor, not some magic chemistry. The noodles absorb what’s in the water as they cook.
Sadly, their user base is really every idiot with a cell phone or MacBook and not those of us who do as you suggest.
