Trump won because he got more votes than the Democrats.

You’re saying the population is more progressive than the candidates the dems put up? That’s quite the claim.
Yeah but how can you elect progressive representatives if the population is not progressive.
You guys understand that this is subjective?
They may not be left enough for you personally but they represent the political spectrum of in the US.

2·3 months agoYeah. Private trackers are always a bit weird with their invasive signup stuff. Not gonna defend them on that front. I guess they’re trying to ensure that you haven’t been banned previously. It’s daft but it’s they’re in charge I guess.
I will say though other private trackers seem to have a weird kiss-the-ring and beg forgiveness king of reverence for mods in their forums, but that doesn’t seem to be a thing at MAM thank fuck. It’s kinda sickening the weird god-status mods have in some trackers.
Maintaining a ratio at MAM is a whole different game to trackers that host movies and TV. You can’t ratio-farm with the same methods. The trick is to just continue seeding things indefinitely. Even if you’re not uploading and earning any ratio you still get bonus points and can convert them to upload credit.
It’s true that if you only download things occasionally there’s better alternatives - but that’s ever the case with private trackers of any kind.

451·3 months agoNo one cares or will even notice your lack of participation.
Some seeders have amazing infrastructure and can seed in an hour what would take you a year on a residential connection.
This is not an “if everyone did that” problem because not everyone has limited residential bandwidth.
If youre worried about moral obligations adopt a few torrents with very low numbers of seeders to ensure they dont die.
Alternatively, you could rent a seed box for a month and upload 5 years worth.

Not really.
Plenty of other countries adopting Trump’s populist policies.
You could say that about everything that Trump does.
He has normalised the making of unilateral decisions. He has normalised vindictive policies. He has normalised armed forces in cities.
Its not that deep.
He’s just saying he can take things he wants if no one will stop him, and he’s trying to rationalise that.

18·5 months agoNix. You dont need NixOS, you can just use nix as a package manager on top of whatever you have.
It has the benefits of containerisation, but a vast repo including things you’d usually run in docker containers, and CLI apps and tools, and large GUI projects as well.

3·5 months agoI’m not a windows user and haven’t used jackett.
This is the relevant issue on github: https://github.com/Jackett/Jackett/issues/16352
The TLDR is, it’s a false positive.
The change they think triggered it is that there’s an “if” statement to detect the operating system and if so it moves some files.
They’ve submitted the file to some antivirus vendors so they can improve their false positive detection system. I wouldn’t expect a result on that front but who knows.
Nothing is a surety in life but:
- there’s a lot of transparency around this issue
- lots of people have reviewed the code regarding this specific issue
- it’s a long standing project with good community support and no recent shady changes to maintainers
- false positives do happen
You need to make your own decision but IMO, “very low” risk.

Yes but every commenter in this thread is complaining that their supposed progressive representatives are in fact conservative.
My point is, they represent the spectrum of the US, and by definition some are more progressive than others.
