4·1 year agoHow cool is that?!
The Kamakura Tourist Congestion Map looks great. Osmand implemented “popular places nearby” which uses wiki data and that’s great as well
You can add any map tiles you want with the online map extension
I’ve got my own style, thanks!
Offline maps is just too slow on my pixel 9 for general browsing
It is, you’re right. But osmand is great for hiking and I don’t really want to add an app just for browsing the map when osmand could do it
Thanks! That’s for the offline map. The offline map is too slow for me on my phone for general usage.
To me, the offline map is only great for hiking or navigation
Thx for asking. Maps from Maptiles or Mapbox for example

21·1 year agoDevelopment costs money. It’s all open source. Osmand is great.
I don’t understand the complain about money.

OpenStreetMap community@lemmy.ml•OsmAnd 5.0 (Android) | OsmAndEnglish
1·1 year agoYes, exploit protection is not responsible for osmands slowness. It could impact startup, but nothing more
It’s not related to graphene. I’ve seen osmamd being snaily on other flagships as well

4·1 year agoOsmand isn’t cheap to buy and a lot of people pay for it. Where else do you think their money comes from?
Osmand is slow and too complex on my pixel 9, yet I still use it

44·1 year agoWhy would you put a dedicated bus stop street lamp right besides the street lamp?
To me, this is lit. If one removes the street lamp it is no longer lit.
Why?
I installed it based on your recommendation and it is full with macropayments.

7·1 year agoA really cool app is wanderer https://github.com/Flomp/wanderer
It’s not directly what you asked but it is cool
To me, it’s cooler than komoot and outdooractive but it’s not “social” consumer ready

OpenStreetMap community@lemmy.ml•Is there a way to do live location sharing?English
2·1 year agoUnfortunately this is still missing. Especially some feature that someone can request the location, instead of me having to actively send it.
My partner could just pull it, with or without me approving (for a certain period). Or for kids. Or friends at a gathering.

It works on my firefox.
