Part of that is just selection bias. Very few people would post Amazon reviews for their shoes unprompted. But if something unexpected happens, like if they have a defective pair, they’re quite a bit more likely to go back and write something.

Depends on what you mean by help. Yes, it would communicate the point better, but it’s engagement bait, so the ambiguity is a feature rather than a bug.
The really weird case is “two thousand” to “two thousand nine”, then we revert back to “twenty ten” and onward.
Or do what they do for traffic tickets and attach points to violations. After enough points, revoke the company’s right to operate, and if it’s critical, nationalize it.
I might be mistaking him with one of the other major grifters; the Venn diagram between racists, homophobes, transphobes, and antisemites is a circle.
And sexist, homophobic, antisemitic, the whole right wing dipshit starter pack.

It’s the first question in a battery of questions designed to force you to be aware of inconsistencies in your ethical framework. The first answer is supposed to be obvious: Yes, you throw the switch, but most people’s reason for that creates a very messy precedent that the distinction between action and inaction doesn’t matter, only the outcome, which later questions can exploit.
The ÷ sign isn’t used by “Americans”, it’s used by small children. As soon as you learn basic mathematical notation in your introductory algebra class, you’ve outgrown the use of that symbol.

122·3 years agoIt’s open source, if there was a back door it would have been found years ago.
If Mexican food gives you the shits, you need to eat more fiber so your digestive system doesn’t immediately panic on contact with beans.

Memes@lemmy.ml•Is this photoshopped or is there really a country where the stop sign is green?English
7·3 years agoAlso, for those wondering about the inevitable followup question, a stop sign has to be placed by a local or state government to be enforceable, and is required to follow the exact standard specifications. Tickets have been thrown out due to stop signs being a slightly wrong shade of red, so blue or green are definitely out.

5·3 years agoI think the difference is those are portrayed in a way where you’re still supposed to be rooting for her. Every one of those people, as brutally as they were killed, were monumental assholes. And instead of letting the viewer grapple with the fact that they’re on the side of a sadistic monster torturing someone to death, to explore the dangers of prioritizing vengeance over justice, the story just moves on. There’s a lot they could have done to bring the consequences of Dany’s shortsighted rage into perspective, really give the viewer several moments of “yeah, I see why she did it in the heat of the moment, but damn, that’s fucked up”. Then, her subsequent heel turn would feel like the logical conclusion of her arc.
Then just give her time to be the main antagonist for a bit. What’s the point of spending a series long arc setting up a powerful villain if she’s not actually given any screentime as the villain?

40·3 years agoWage theft is the biggest form of theft by far. The biggest perpetrator of wage theft is, unsurprisingly, Wal-Mart. They have the audacity to call anyone else a thief?
Those licenses are standard for any website where you can upload content and are just the basic functionality of a website written in legalese. Without it, everyone’s feed would be blank because they’re not allowed to copy what you uploaded, they wouldn’t even have a copy themselves because you didn’t give them permission to store it. If someone’s screen resolution is different, they technically need separate permission to “adapt” the content by delivering it in an appropriate resolution. Arranging several posts into a feed or timeline is including your post in a derivative work, which also is a separate legal permission they need to request from you. They can sneak extra things in there, but the agreement itself is a legal formality for making a website that stores and displays things the users enter. If they don’t have it, you can post something, then sue them for distributing your post to others.
It’s the composite score, and especially the heavy emphasis on it as some innate unchangeable thing, that’s the questionable part.
Blowing up pipelines doesn’t kill anyone. I know you think property damage is worse than murder, but sane people don’t think that.
