  • I’ll try to say this delicately enough to not get banned…

The modlog (which also contains the full text of my post) cites as the reason for the removal of my post “rule 1” which according to the sidebar is “Be civil and nice.”

I think they consider any criticism of the government of Iran to be “incivility” and/or “meanness”.

(Hopefully I’m not misinterpreting the mods here. Mods, please feel free to step in and correct any such misrepresentation.)

  • TootSweet@lemmy.worldtoMemes@lemmy.mlhey L.W mods/admins, how's it going?

Anyone want to place bets on how long it is before Elon uses this as an excuse to whisper in Trump’s ear that he needs to classify the Fediverse as a terrorist organization? It’d conveniently shut down competition with Xitter (and other billionaire-owned social media sites) if Mastodon (and Lemmy and PeerTube and Diaspora etc) was shut down for “RaDiCaLiZiNg fErTiLiTy ClInIc BoMbErS” or whatever BS.

  • Challenges in 2034:

    • Survive infancy with no medical care except the LLM your assigned insurance conglomerate provides. (Which is only able to prescribe Ozempic and anxiolytics.
    • Hack the pre-installed digitized Elon Musk consciousness out of your mandatory XTesLink™ Not-An-Enslavement-Device™ brain implant without letting him find out beforehand lest he trigger the built-in “re-education” module.
    • Escape the coal mine without exceeding your quota of oxygen, triggering the alarm.
    • Don’t die of radiation poisoning. Or Sars-CoV-2029. Or high-velocity lead poisonin due to looking “ethnic” in the vicinity of a Paw Patrol™ robotic police unit.

  • Yeah, I was just looking through some documentation on it. It says it uses a “digital wallet”. Maybe people are seeing that and thinking that means it’s blockchain-based? I’m not seeing anything more solid claiming there’s any blockchain involved, though. (I’m not 100% certain there isn’t any blockchain involved, though.)

It’s BS either way. Extra super plus plus BS if it’s blockchain-based. But still BS even if there’s no blockchain involved.

  • One of the crucial differences between blockchain and Git is that Git is fully subserviant to humans and anything can be undone by humans.

If your blockchain house title is stolen by a hacker, either the courts (rightfully) aren’t going to put any significance on the state of the blockchain and are going to say “yeah, you still own your house” (in which case what was the point of using blockchain in the first place rather than a SQL database or some such where mistakes and problems and fraud can be undone without cryptographically-hard obstacles in the way) or if in this hypothetical the Libertarian dystopia has progressed to cartoonish extremes, you’re just SOL and lost your house, which just isn’t even remotely realistic.
