I was going to argue against this, but then you’re right. There has been regulatory capture of socdems as they became neoliberals; who keep chasing the magical “centrist” unicorn. But in reality, who they are trying to appease are the property owning base who want their property value to keep going up and up, at the expense of the youths, families and homeless, and to appease rich donors.
For me, being apolitical implies someone is full aware of the political developments, but chooses not to take sides or form well thought views. The people I mentioned are more apathetic, as in they don’t bother at all being updated even with the slightest news.
It’s not even being apolitical. Some people are naturally sensitive and easily feel depressed with negativity, so they avoid the news. Or that they are too preoccupied with their personal lives that they don’t have time to tune in to the news. I’m sure many of you know someone who are out of the loop with even just the most basic current events. I know someone who only heard about the invasion of Ukraine only two days later after it happened.
Johnson: What should we call this, Vlad?
Putin: Limited operation
I distinctly remember calling someone out as Nazi for misogynistic comments and yet denies being one, despite literally posting Nazi like slogans. Fascists love to act in bad faith and they know it.
No, because pedophiles are elected to be in charge to protect them.
I see this meme all the time, which is an oversimplification. The 250 year time frame that people ascribe to is usually assigned to a country’s lifetime, but really, the time frame is the average length of a golden era of a country, not its existence. Rome lasted for 2,000 years and China today still exists. When the Chinese talk about this “250 year” thing, they would refer back to how long certain dynasties ruled, not China’s existence. Same with Rome having had its peak come and go while it existed until 1453. France also has had several golden ages as the bigger power in Europe from middle ages to Napoleonic era.
America won’t cease to exist, but it will not be the power it once was, and that’s okay (except for the ultranationalists). It’s okay to be humble.

Authoritarians learned that 1984-style totalitarian control doesn’t work anymore; so they tried Brave New World’s control through psychological pleasure, and it is more successful than ever imagined.

Are you from that part of the world? Are your fishermen being driven away by Chinese navy despite having centuries long friendly relations with Chinese fishermen? Did Philippines allow China to set up base within their maritime shores? Did you guys actually ask Vietnamese and Filipinos apart reading pre-prepared script?

The American bases are there out of the hosting countries’ permission. Weird that tankies never mention what Vietnam and Philippines think of the Chinese navy bullying their fishermen, or China not leaving the shoals that is within the 200 nautical mile from Philippines, despite the International Court of Justice ruling that China’s presence in that shoal is illegal. But you know, got to keep flipping the script as an NPC…

Weird that you did not address South China Sea…
The Nazis remilitarized which spurred short term economic growth, which was then used to pay for the extremely generous social welfare benefits to the Germans, who were appreciative of this because they were deeply traumatised by hyperinflation of the Great Depression. But this excessive government spending is turning the German wallets inside out; and the plunder of conquered nations gave Nazi Germany some needed cash injection to keep their economy going. If you don’t believe me, look up Hjalmar Schacht, Hitler’s economic minister, who warned the fuhrer that the state’s finances were nearly out in the late 1930s. Schacht’s savvy financial acumen had kept the Nazi German economy running longer than it should have been. He was dubbed the “dark wizard of finance”, partly because his confiscation of Jewish assets, before the war, yielded the Nazis much needed finances.
Economists said that Kamala was a better choice but people thought otherwise.
Most people don’t realise Nazi Germany was on a brink of another economic collapse before Poland was invaded.
Hitler invaded Poland to plunder the country to stave off another impending economic collapse of Germany, thanks to his runaway excessive government spending. In that sense, he was distracting the Germans from being revealed on how bad of an administrator he was. Trump invaded Venezuela and wants to annex Greenland to distract people from the fact that he is a pedophile. And that’s a helluva weirder reason to go to war for distraction…
Trump and co. aren’t even pretending, which is precisely what they campaigned for as “being authentic” and “telling it like it is”. Liberals, on the other hand, are pretenders.
