OpenStreetMap community@lemmy.ml•StreetComplete vs Organic MapsEnglish
17·2 years agoEditing with Organic Maps can lead to duplicates since it update maps once a month. StreetComplete shows the current database so you are sure you won’t upload duplicate POIs.

3·2 years agoThat search shortcut works only if you have DuckDuckGo as your search engine, though.

OpenStreetMap community@lemmy.ml•When mapping street addresses in #OpenStreetMap, the minimum tag you probably need is addr:housenumber and addr:street, or maybe addr:place.English
5·2 years agoI agree except for one thing: interpolation is way better than having no address at all. Even if it’s not precise, at least the user can have some routing.

7·2 years agoAddress interpolation should be just a preliminary mapping, since it works well only if addresses are equally distributed along the way. But if buildings or entrances are not regular this won’t work.

1·2 years agoI didn’t know that, but I’ve never mapped those.

1·2 years agoThe only problem I have with OSMGo is that when adding a crossing the software doesn’t merge it with a nearby way (as opposed to EveryDoor). Otherwise it’s a great app.

OpenStreetMap community@lemmy.ml•Why can't OSM zoom in farther?English
1·2 years agoNot exactly a solution, but you can change layer to CyclOSM and you can zoom further

OpenStreetMap community@lemmy.ml•Some work for the OpenStreetMap community in 2024… 😀🚰English
7·3 years agoI’d tag it like this
man_made=water_tap
drinking_water=yes
fountain=bottle_refill
access=yes
wheelchair=yes
fee=no
operator=NMBS/SNCBI wouldn’t use
amenity=drinking_watersince it seems hard to drink from those stations.
I’d choose “Can’t say…”, leave a note explaining the situation and let someone split the parking or do it myself on PC (or in Vespucci).

2·3 years agoI think that “same” in this case was referring mostly to the goal, more than on the methods involved. I understand they are different under the bonnet, but they do the same thing.
