You don’t know what jobs they cut. It was likely service offices and phone help and secretaries and maintenance people and commissioned sales people and such. They couldn’t have cut 30,000 programmers and hardware engineers.

No one deserves that much money and I’m not arguing in favor of what they did. I’m just pointing out that getting rid of that many people is way, way, more than $30,000,000 on a payroll.

I assume most of the layoffs were in support roles and not the main coders or hardware engineers. I assume it was a lot of secretaries and intern level stuff and phone rep and sales people supplemented by commissions and cleaning crew and maintenance jobs. Probably shut down some service offices too.

Enough for 400 employees.

Issue is that most people can’t/don’t know how to set up a vpn and a torrent program that will give more than like a 10Kb upload. So even if they aren’t trying not to seed, they still aren’t by default.

It’s already out in some countries, so there should be some real reviews, though jokes in translation can often be a mixed bag.

Stuff got too easy to really have to delve into a deeper understanding, most of the time, now. No jumpers, no dip switches, no pre-loading drivers or plugs that can be plugged into places they shouldn’t get plugged into. Everything is color coded and plug n play. You don’t have to dive in and assign com ports or anything.

I learned as I went because I wanted to get shit to work and that took a lot of educating to get there. Now, most of the time the situation doesn’t come up, so that deeper understanding is a building block that just got skipped over. The offshoot is that when the more rare occasion arises that a deeper understanding is required, it’s usually got a person way behind the 8 ball to be able to recognize and fix the issue.

Having no landlords is not a viable option. There are a lot of reasons that people want or need to rent a house for a while. People who know they’re only living in an area temporarily exist in pretty large numbers.

The problem is that there’s too many people who have made it a business that have over 5 houses on companies with hundreds or more doing it. People having one or two rentals isn’t an issue at all in my book. It’s the ones who made it a million dollar business that are the issue.

Ublock on Firefox still leaves it work great, actually. I use it like 95% of the time, still. Just don’t touch it without.

That very much isn’t the case beyond like a decade+ ago. For the last decade its been not possible, or extra work to install apks on sd card. The choice is there, but it’s far from default.
