You’re also misunderstanding. I won’t deny that US companies seek profit wherever they can, even from unethical sources. I also don’t doubt their involvement with law enforcement and intelligence agencies. But a company seeking profit through a partnership with the United States federal government is not the same as the totalitarian Chinese government requiring oversight of Chinese companies.

No, you’re misunderstanding. The Chinese government has significantly more influence and power over Chinese companies than the US federal government has over US companies. People are acting like both are the same, but they are not.

The real problem with that Guardian piece is the insistence on perpetuating a superficial identity marker well past its expiration date. Why do we keep breathing life into the dead horse that is racism? Let it die along with the aging population of people who grew up when it was still cool to think that race exists.

Jews are the original inhabitants of the Land of Israel. A more correct analogy would be a bunch of Aztecs walking into Mexico City, being granted a small part of it by Mexico, and then Mexico forcibly evicting all non-Aztecs from that area.
There’s nothing colonial about Israel. If anything, it is a reclamation of a displaced people of its original land. It has attempted repeatedly to compromise with the Palestinians, but nothing short of genocide against it appeals to them. They have outright rejected all attempts at political compromise, even though Israel was originally under no obligation to compromise with them.
Many people expressing support for Palestine and warning about genocide in Gaza are using talking points created by Hamas that call for the elimination of the state of Israel.

Seems pretty clear to me.
Israel is a legitimate state. Hamas has no interest in governance and exists solely to (in its own words) “obliterate” Israel.
Sorry, I was wrong. They want to “obliterate” the Jews, not expel them. When talking about genocide, it’s important to specify the correct flavor.

Regardless, they have multiple times rejected concessions and compromises that would have enabled them to have an independent democratic nation. If that’s truly what they wanted, why would they always pass on the opportunity to get it without bloodshed?
Palestine has been given plenty of chances. They just choose to reject any compromise that doesn’t involve the expulsion of the Jews from the Holy Land.
Dude. Hamas is a terror organization, not a resistance force.
Go further back, even. The UN Partition Plan for Palestine in 1947 would have given Palestine its own territory, splitting it with Israel 45/55. The Arab League and Arab Higher Committee of Palestine both rejected it.
It’s not like compromises have never been offered. The Arabs have simply never been willing to accept anything less than the expulsion of the Jews from the territory.
