I don’t think all of it is due to Chinese/Russian propaganda, but there are a bunch of people out there who seriously consider Chinese “socialism” as flawed but a good system to emulate.
Which is wild, if they apply practically any principles of socialism to China.
Thinking China is in any meaningful way controlled by the workers is some next-level mental gymnastics.
I’ve encountered quite a number of people who genuinely believe it. And unfortunately a decent chunk of those online from lemmy.ml. It’s certainly not everyone on that instance, but it is quite a number.
The number of liberals on .world is pretty damned high too, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
